We Need Your Help

15 November 2018 ·

The Hockley and Hawkwell Social Centre for the Older Person is an essential facility to help local older residents to counter loneliness and provide nutritious home cooked meals. We will be embarking upon an extensive refurbishment plan to ensure the Centre is completely fit for purpose and can continue to provide an excellent community service for the next 25 years.

The plan will be tackled in phases with the aim of completing implementation over the next 2/3 years. The timescale will be driven by the success of any fundraising necessary to implement the plan, as well as the level of voluntary assistance (the plan will only be carried out outside of normal operating hours to avoid any inconvenience).

We will make maximum use of any voluntary assistance to reduce costs wherever possible. If you are able to assist in any way please contact Phil Smith on 07979 800854.

The plan is to incorporate the following phases:

  • installation of automatic sliding doors to the front entrance providing easier access for all levels of disability.
  • redecoration of all bathroom facilities and new facilities to be installed within the men’s bathroom to match the recently installed ladies facilities.
  • complete redecoration and refurbishment of the Reception area, Office and Storage area.
  • complete redecoration of the dining area and implementation of a new tea bar and service area. Installation of new flooring, curtains, blinds and furniture to ensure a pleasant, warm, comfortable and inviting area.
  • redecoration of kitchen and food storage area together with replacement appliances (oven, hob, etc.), as required.

We would ask that if you or your family/friends are able to help with any charitable donations or are considering any sponsored activity, that they consider donating to this worthy cause. No donation is too small.

We will soon be setting the charity up within Facebook to allow donations to be made that way. In the meantime, please contact us on: hockleydaycentre@gmail.com or  01702 206208 or pop in for a coffee.
